I often work with small business owners and marketing managers who manage their own content using tools like Mailchimp or Wordpress. By teaching them a few of the basic and most commonly used HTML tags, they can often spot any formatting issues as they arise themselves and fix them without bothering their web team.
10 of the best HTML tags to memorise
You won't go far wrong if you learn at least this list of 10 of the most common HTML tags:
- <h1> <h2> Headings
- <p> New paragraph
- <i> Italic
- <b> or <strong> Bold
- <a> Anchor
- <dl></dl> Definition list
- <ul> Bulleted list
- <ol> Numbered list
- <img> Image
- <br> Inserts line break
Of course the list goes on, but these are the ones I personally come across these most. Understanding them can make your life a lot easier when that paragraph space you want just won't go in!
People like Webmonkey have more detailed cheat sheets, so take a peek over there if you're more interested. Knowledge is power right?
